THE GIRL WHO OVERCAME

I remember way back when I'd dance on table tops
And people would get into a frenzy
My friends loved it
I loved it
We were just having fun
Taking down that liquor straight
Shots till you passed out
Beating on hoes and guys
That crossed me
I was young
I worked too hard
Been through too much
And lost it a few times
Just to let loose
I remember way back when
All that shit never mattered
But all it does is haunt me
You all know my story
The version you heard
From a friend
Another friend and a friends friend
Have you ever stopped to ask
Baby girl what's wrong?
Why won't you calm the fuck down?
Cause I'm high
High enough to numb the pain
I wish I could tell you all that I have been through
But I'm not that girl
Whose gonna use that lame excuse
I did that shit so I have to own up to thy shit
But I can tell you who I am
I am the girl who overcame
Who recognized that it was time for a change
That it was up to me to graduate
To prove to them all that I am MORE
I am capable
I am alive
Making a difference
And choosing to go forth
And take a hold of my dreams
So if you want to hold onto my past
Go ahead
If you still want to talk about  it
Go ahead
That's not going to stop me from rising
And that's not going to hold me back
I see through you
And your bullshit smiles
I see the envy in your eyes
I see you wish you could be half the person I am
It's a damn shame
If  you could just stop all this talking
About me behind my back
Maybe you could achieve half of what I have
You busy lying on your back to pay bills
You want a big bank account
Flossing around like you worked for it
What I do is legit
So I may not be rocking Tom Ford
And driving around the northern suburbs like I own the world
But at least I can testify
That when I take my mama out
It's not dirty money
My money is clean
She says, "Baby girl you make me so proud"
I may be judging you
And shitting on you like a ton of bricks
Just don't let your friends cheer you on
Those hoes want you dead
I wish you the best I really do
And I hope one day you recognize
It"s time for a change
And be the girl who overcame

You're the man/A gentleman/Afraid to lose you

                                                             (Source:lifehack.org)
As I lay awake
The thought of my heart break
Your heart break
I can't stand it
And I take two steps back instead of forward
Driven by emotion
This brain starts calling
Hello are you there?
Is this the lifeline?
I'm giving away my heart
These emotions are too deep
Remembering the more I feel
The more I give away a part of me
Then I feel the earth quake
On my chest
And it hurts
How it would feel
To wake and you're not there anymore
Next to me
It's an experience
So I beat on me
And ask myself
Can you take this?
Always be a man
and finish what you started
Honestly all this rhetoric and emotion
Its a manifestation in progress
A human mess
Truth is you mean everything to me
I would never want to share you
Or lose you
So I choose to stay
And never walk away
 Because I still believe
You're the man your mama raised you to be
A gentleman

Respect His Ambition

(Photobucket.com)

There’s more to this man than just his smile. His ambition, his energy and power are always encouraging. There’s something about his strength that pushes me forward. By forward I mean I’m drawn to him. I can’t help it; I want whatever he has to rub off of me. I don’t think he realizes his effect on me, his effect on himself. His dreams are breathtaking and I feel nothing is too big for him. His going to succeed, it’s written in the stars, at least I’d like to think so. You’re a man in every sense of the word and you are going to win at everything. I know it in my heart you will. We have to respect his ambition and yes I say we, because besides me everyone else will, recognise it. There’s something about this man that can’t be ignored, he demands attention.  Ambition is a very attractive quality and it’s bigger and better when it’s followed by action. Each step you take makes you more and more a man in my eyes. You have grown and I believe, actually I want you to believe that you are making everyone proud. I respect every facet that makes you who you are, from what you have left behind, where you’re coming from, as you stand right now and where you’re going. You already have what you are after, so keep going. “Ambition now that’s the man I want to be with.”

When I was growing up

(Source:weheartit.com)

When I was growing up
I always wondered
What it would be like to meet you
Would you be a movie star, a pilot or some kind of superhero?
I always wondered
How we would fight and make up
With rough sex
I wondered how I’d worship you
And give into your needs
Because after all
I just wanted to be a good wife
A good friend
And a good lover
As a woman your man is your everything
So I wondered if we’d listen to slow music
And drizzle body oil
In all the right places
When I was growing up
I always wondered
What it would be like to meet you
Would you love and respect me
Or shatter and batter me up
Because you know I know you cheat
I wondered what your children would be like
And how they would look up at you
And call you the best daddy in the world
While I smiled on
When I was growing up
I always wondered
What it would be like to meet you
I am your wife
And I know you in and out
Whether you smother me with kisses
Or use your fists to show your love

I think I may be falling in love with you

Why is my heart beating a lot faster?
Why am I smiling at the thought of you?
And why am I lingering on my every last thought of you
from when we last met?
I think I may be falling in love with you
When my heart least expects it
I can’t wait to talk to you
And my day seems lonely without you
I need you
I am in want of you
I long for completion
And that completion is you
I think I may be falling in love with you
I can’t resist or deny it
What I’m saying is I like it
We will dance in the rain
Wine and dine by candlelight
We will sleep in
And hold each other cause that’s
What we want to do
In this summer heat
We will take a swim
And hold hands as we walk
Along the long narrow street
I feel like swinging in swinging into your heart
I think I may be falling in love with you
I can’t resist of deny it
What I’m saying is I like it

My Beloved Wife

                                  (smile2grace.wordpress.com)

My Beloved Wife
It’s been a while since
I told you how beautiful you are
You truly are
I respect and love you
For all the efforts you make
To make our home a home
I can’t apologise enough
For not giving you a helping hand
When you need it most
And for the little things that
matter the most to you
I promise you I will be better for you
Because you have always been
The best for me
Even when the baby wouldn’t stop crying
And our teenager daughter
Slammed the door in your face
And called you the worst mother in the world
You never gave up
You still made dinner like it was your last
You deserve a bit more of everything
Because you’re beyond phenomenal
And you deserve to hear it more often
Being a mother, a wife, a friend, sister, daughter in law
Must be a lot for you
But on Sunday you still
Look good in your summer dress
And your Sunday brunch is amazing
My beloved wife
I love you
I may not say it everyday
But today I proclaim it for all to know
You are the strongest person I know
Your beauty never fades
Your place is in my heart
I love you now and forever
Don’t you ever forget that

Your beloved husband
